London Victoria Train Station - Belgravia
- opened 1860
I often wonder what people see when they travel through this stunning 19th century train station entrance?
Do they see the exquisite detail in the hard lined bevil edged roofing which resembles an upturned white picket fence? Or the elaborate multi-layered vari-painted embellishmentswhich adorn the length & breadth of each corner & centre supporting post? What about the phenomenal building & clock towering high above the main entrance, so reminiscent of beautiful Parisian architecture?
My guess is that most see Starbucks or the 24hr ‘eat all you can’ buffets first or possibly only the black taxi cabs, as they rush on to their next destination....totally missing the splendour...
I’d like to think that maybe after viewing this, if you have a few moments & not in a hurry to reach your destination the next time you pass through, maybe take a few moments to soak up your surroundings...before...the inevitable...
